See-Level
See-Level
“See-Level” symbolizes the overview and awareness an operator maintains inside chaos, instability and continuous exposure to danger. The title is derived from “sea level,” representing constant movement, unpredictability and the understanding that operational environments can both destroy and sustain at the same time.
The painting reflects the balance between pressure and control, between suffocating images and the ability to continue functioning despite them. Just like the sea, operational life gives and takes continuously. It forces people to observe, analyze and react while remaining mentally above the chaos surrounding them.
At the same time the painting reflects the detached awareness that develops after years inside crisis environments where survival often depends on remaining calm while everything around you move in different directions simultaneously. The ability to maintain overview inside confusion becomes more important than emotion itself.
Created on canvas using acrylic paint applied with a diving knife, a compass, several 9mm cartridges and sand, with paint dabbed using a map. I use real operational materials to leave something of myself behind in the canvas to give the art a soul.
Dimensions 40 X 30 cm on canvas
