“Front Toward Enemy” reflects the controlled chaos surrounding operational environments where discipline and aggression exist side by side under extreme pressure. The title references the official warning printed on a Claymore mine, but inside the painting it becomes a mentality rather than a weapon.
The figure stands inside confusion, violence, contradiction and emergency decision-making while remaining focused on direction, responsibility and immediate action. Operational environments rarely offer clarity or comfort. They demand adaptation, controlled force and the ability to continue functioning while surrounded by instability.
The work represents a mindset shaped through exposure to confrontation where hesitation can become more dangerous than action itself. Despite the chaos surrounding the operator, the posture remains deliberate: always facing the threat, always prepared to move forward when necessary.
Created on canvas using acrylic paint applied with sand and debris collected in Afghanistan, 9mm rounds that once struck me, my combat knife and circular patterns drawn using the charging cable of my Motorola radio, symbolizing equipment, coordination, communication and operational dependency. I use real operational materials to leave something of myself behind in the canvas to give the art a soul.
