Beirut-25

"Beirut-25" reflects the reality my colleague and I lived through during the bombardments in Beirut in 2025 while working at an Embassy around diplomatic movements, evacuation procedures and daily incoming and ongoing IDF and Hezbollah attacks.

Every day we warned diplomats about possible strikes, tracked whether people had left danger zones in time and verified after each impact if everyone was still accounted for. If someone was missing, we went back into the area ourselves to search through destroyed buildings and recover bodies if necessary.

The painting captures the atmosphere surrounding those moments, smoke, confusion, crowds moving through fear and the strange silence that follows after an explosion while everyone waits for confirmation that people survived.

This work is not about politics. It is about responsibility inside chaos and the reality of repeatedly walking toward places everybody else is trying to escape from. 

Created on canvas using acrylic paint applied with my combat knife and fragments of debris collected in Beirut after the bombardments. The paint was spread and dabbed using my actual contact lists and operational checklists used during the attacks. I use real operational materials to leave something of myself behind in the canvas to give the art a soul.
