Become The Nightmare
Become The Nightmare
“Become The Nightmare” is based on the realization that fear changes shape once a person spends too long inside violent or unstable environments. The work reflects the psychological transition where survival no longer comes from avoiding danger, but from understanding it closely enough to move through it without hesitation.
The figure represents confrontation rather than aggression. The nightmare inside the painting exists differently for every viewer. Some see protection. Others see threat. The line between good and evil depends largely on which side of fear someone is standing on.
The skull symbolizes the permanent presence of death, violence and psychological pressure surrounding operational environments. It is not hidden in the background. It stands directly in front of the figure, demanding acknowledgment rather than avoidance.
The phrase behind the work comes from a simple operational truth: you cannot spend years facing darkness without eventually carrying part of it with you. Sometimes the only way to survive physically and mentally is to stop running from fear and walk directly toward it.
Threat never fully disappears. It changes location, timing and appearance. The awareness remains active long after the environment itself is gone.
Created on canvas using acrylic paint applied with the barrel of a Glock, its magazine and a 9mm round that once struck me. I use real operational materials to leave something of myself behind in the canvas to give the art a soul.
Dimensions 70 X 50 cm on canvas
