The Man Beside Me
“The Man Beside Me” reflects the duality of working as a close protection officer or bodyguard in high-risk environments, where professionalism and controlled violence coexist behind the same facade.
The figure in the suit symbolizes diplomacy, restraint, and the public role. The armed figure beside him represents the operational reality hidden beneath: the part that remains controlled, silent, and disciplined until circumstances change and immediate action becomes necessary.
In unstable regions, outward appearance is often part of survival. One part of the person speaks calmly within embassies, hotels, and during official meetings, while the other part remains mentally prepared for escalation, evacuation, or a confrontation that could arise at any moment.
This painting reflects the realization that these two figures are not separate individuals. They form one and the same person, operating in different operational states depending on what the situation requires.
This work was created on canvas with acrylic paint applied using a Versace tie, a clip from my tactical belt, my Glock holster, an embassy coffee cup, and my combat knife. I use actual operational materials to leave a part of myself in the canvas and give the artwork the soul it deserves.
Dimensions: 70 × 50 cm, canvas.
