The Mind Behind the Work

Peter J. Mars is a High-Risk Security Contractor, author and visual artist. His work is shaped by more than 32 years of operational experience in war and conflict zones, high-risk environments and international diplomatic security operations. Through both his books and paintings, he transforms operational reality, observation, strategy and human behaviour into written and visual work with a raw and authentic atmosphere. He remains operational and continues to gain new experiences.

BOOKS | His books focus on situational awareness, mental analysis, non-prescriptive safety advice for children aged 8 to 15, and first-hand operational experiences.

PAINTINGS | His paintings are original acrylic works inspired by conflict zones, operational deployments and the psychological pressure of extreme circumstances.

Each painting is created on canvas using acrylic paint applied with original operational objects directly connected to the subject portrayed. Instead of traditional brushes, Peter uses, among other things, his combat knife, sections of a parachute, spent cartridge cases, live cartridges, a copper block made from melted Kalashnikov ammunition, an axe, a compass, pressure bandages and other authentic operational equipment. Every object leaves its own physical trace on the canvas, giving the artwork not only its texture and story, but also a soul. By incorporating actual objects from his operational life into the painting process, Peter leaves a part of their history, and of himself, within the canvas.

Greyhall Publishing is built upon authenticity, experience, discretion and craftsmanship rather than mass production or commercial trends.
