If someone was missing, we went back into the area ourselves to search through destroyed buildings and recover bodies if necessary.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"\u003eThe painting captures the atmosphere surrounding those moments, smoke, confusion, crowds moving through fear and the strange silence that follows after an explosion while everyone waits for confirmation that people survived.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"\u003eThis work is not about politics. It is about responsibility inside chaos and the reality of repeatedly walking toward places everybody else is trying to escape from.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\"\u003eCreated on canvas using acrylic paint applied with my combat knife and fragments of debris collected in Beirut after the bombardments. The paint was spread and dabbed using my actual contact lists and operational checklists used during the attacks.
